I had been toying with the idea of reflections on sunglasses. I wanted to change the reflection on a pair of sunglasses to seem more interesting. Sunday, my neighbor accidently presented me with the perfect photo to manipulate. It was a selfie that she had taken while in her car. It was mostly a very cool selfie but the reflection on her sunglasses gave away the reality of the photo. Car, dashboard, road. Boring. My neighbor loves the beach. So, I made the necessary changes. I'm not 100% with it. But, it's done.
I took some self portriats with the 50mm lens before packing it up and sending it back. Various versions of this.
I had a really snazzy 50mm lens for a few days. Stupid life happened and I didn't get to spend the entire weekend with it.
People seem to think that the camera matters. They don't wanna start projects because they don't have the gear they think they need. Don't worry about what gear someone else uses. Start with what you have. This photo was taken on my iPhone with the damn Snapchat app, then cropped in the Apple Photo app. Just start.
I know that the window sticker really stands out here. But, it was all about creating a black and white photo. No, I didn't shoot it that way. It's a color photo that I turned into a black and white photo.
This one is all about hiding where I'm taking the photo. I didn't want these photos to look like I wasn't on the dealership grounds. I think I succeeded.
The sky is a lie. Well, I mean, it is a real photo of a sky, it just wasn't the sky that I had to work with the morning of this shoot.
So, it was during this shoot that I realized that my job needs a photo waiver. There were some bikers at the park that would have been great in the photo. Something to work on.
I like this one better. It was actually taken directly across the street from the other one.
I don't love this photo, but it cleaned up okay.
This one required some help as the park is really old and the parking lot has been painted, a lot. Anyway, bossman said this one was near tier three photo quality. I'm not sure what that means but it seemed to be good.
Blown out a little with all the light outside the pavilion. Something to work on.
Tinted windows help hide window stickers. A little.
I'm sure there's a way to remove the window stickers. I haven't figured it out, yet. At least, no so that it still looks like a window.
I've decided to share some work product. I don't actually have an agreement with my job over work product. Some of it is an experiment for me and sometimes it stretches my skills. So, I'm going to share it without much comment. Stand by for a bunch of car photos.
I did a thing this evening. Long story short, I pointed my camera at the night sky and clicked the button. It's nearly a full moon and a handheld shot. So, not near perfect. But, got start somewhere, right?
Ah, to photoshop or not to photoshop. That is the question when dealing with selfies. I didn't. At least, not yet. So, this was my last test with the macro lens. The extreme close up portrait. Sorta. It was a rush job because I had to get the lens over to UPS and I didn't have time to set up good lighting and backdrops. Maybe I'll photoshop these later.
Off to the races
I took 600+ photos at this race. I'm working on uploading them to a smugmug gallery. Check back later for a link.
