316 The Velvet Underground

The Velvet Underground is a thing that exists, and for some reason I thought was British, but is no longer active. It was, in fact, formed in New York (1964) by Lou Reed, John Cale, Serling Morrison, and Angus MacLise (replaced in ’65 by Maureen Tucker). The band was active off and on until Lou Reed’s death in 2013. They enjoyed little commercial success but, apparently, was/is one of the “most influential bands of all time” (wiki).

I don’t know that I’ve ever heard their music before. I probably have but didn’t know it. Their self titled third album (1969, MGM) has nothing on it that I’m familiar with and I have very little feels about it. I didn’t love it. I didn’t hate it. I didn’t want to download any of it.
