317 Pixies

Is it too early to do another “review” view gifs? Probably.

Surfer Rosa was the first full-length album by the Pixies, released in 1988. I’m reading so confusing things as I work on this. It looks like the original label was, maybe, too small to do much in the distribution area but on re-release (1992) it did pretty well. Wiki claims that people like Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins) and Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) called it a strong influence. Rolling Stone says, “Their secret weapon was leaping from sweet to screaming, pensive to pummeling…” If they say so.

“Gigantic” is the only song from the album that I’m sorta familiar with. I didn’t know that it was by the Pixies but I did know that Apple used it in an iPhone commercial in 2014. I remember the commercial and vaguely remember trying to figure out who the artist was (spot below). Anyway, I like “Gigantic.” The rest of it, not so much.
