If The Piper at the Gates of Dawn had been the first thing by Pink Floyd I had ever heard, I probably never would have listen to anything by them again. Ever.
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn is Pink Floyd’s first album, released in 1967. The UK and US releases are different. The US version has a rearranged track list and I think the UK version contains an extra track. Apparently, it’s been hailed as one of the best ever psychedelic rock albums.
I. Don’t. Get. It.
From looking at the different track listings on Wiki, I’m pretty sure that I listened to the UK version. It wouldn’t have mattered. It’s weird. I saw a reference that claimed LSD was a direct influence for the album. I believe it. When I was in high school, it used to be a thing to get high and watch The Wall. People claimed you had to be stoned to really get it. Sure. I watched it high, but I found that The Wall perfectly understandable sober. This album. Nope. Drugs might have actually helped for this one.
Idk. Have you listened to it? What are your thoughts?
