I think I might have listened to the wrong album, again. According to the Rolling Stone list, number 345 is Stop Making Sense by Talking Heads, released by Sire records in 1984. That’s the album I went looking for and I found it on YouTube. But, the picture of the album art on Rolling Stone’s list is from the “special new edition” that was released in 1999. Both albums are live albums recorded as part of a live album and film of the same name. In 1999, it was remastered and released with seven extra songs. I have no idea which one Rolling Stone means to have on their list. Since Rolling Stone seems to be referencing the original album, that’s the one I listened to. You can listen to it, too. Here.
I don’t really have much to say about the album itself. I’ve never been a super huge fan of live albums. Especially, if the crowd noise over powers the music. That doesn’t seem to be a problem on this album. The only two Talking Heads songs I’m familiar with (“Buring Down the House” and “Take Me to the Rive”) are present and accounted for. I never really got into Talking Heads. I think their heyday was just a tad before my time. I don’t recall hearing them much on local radio and by the time I remember seeing them on MTV they were almost over and I was moving into heavier things. I kinda thought it all sounded similar.
