363 New Order 12" Remixes

Ah, the 12” dance mix. Do they still do those? I remember digging through the record store looking for remixes of Duran Duran songs. New Order didn’t come hit my radar until the ‘90s with Republic. Substance 1987 was a compilation album of the 12” versions of all the band’s singles and B-side tracks released to date. It was released on vinyl, CD, cassette, and DAT. Seems to be New Order’s most popular and critical album. The album didn’t contain the original mixes of any of the songs. Some critics have called it “a guidebook to 1980’s pop.” I guess. Although, I do like that the band remixed the songs themselves, I’m not familiar enough with the original mixes to be like, “Yeah! This is awesome.” Maybe if I had listened to the entire thing is a disco ball and laser lighted dance club I would have appreciated it more. Instead, I had to listen to it at home streaming from YouTube because no one else had the album. If you’d like to give it a go, click here and here
