379 Waterfalls

Don’t go chasing waterfalls…

TLC was (is?) an American…wait, wiki calls them a “girl group”. I hate that. I hate “boy band,” too. Seems condescending. Sure, these people may start out very young but they grow and by the mid-‘90s when CrazySexyCool was released (1994) TLC was definitely women. So, TLC was a group of three women from Atlanta, GA. CrazySexyCool may have been their biggest album. It is currently the only album by a female singing group to reach diamond certification (10,000,000+ units sold). CrazySexyCool seemed to come at a time when the members of the band were having major differences. They filed for bankruptcy the very next year. The next album was delayed due to differences between the group and their producer. Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes died in a car accident in 2002, which delayed a fourth album. The group went on hiatus for some time but I hear they’ve been active again, although I didn’t really look into what.

I’m not a fan of CrazySexyCool. ‘Waterfalls’ is the only song from the album that I remember from the ‘90s, but I was living overseas by the mid-‘90s and not really paying attention to American radio.
