I feel like I’m supposed to know who Jackson Browne is. Well, I mean, I know he’s a singer and musician, but I feel like I’m supposed to know more about his music than I do. I think that I shouldn’t have to google him to know what he’s done. Before listening to For Everyman (Asylum, 1973), it occurred to me that I can’t name on song by Jackson Browne. So, Google Fu.
I still don’t really know why I should know who he is but I know that he and Glenn Fry wrote “Take It Easy” together. The Eagles recorded it first. Jackson Browne recorded it the very next year, for this album, and, well, Browne should have just let the Eagles have it. The rest of the album was, I don’t know, but it didn’t make me a fan.
Oh, ‘Running On Empty” is why I know Jackson Browne.
