An Interuption

I don’t think I was the only one surprised to learn that Beck has a new album out while reviewing the list of Grammy winners the morning after the Grammy’s. No, I didn’t watch them. I usually don’t watch award shows. I find award show nights perfect nights to turn off the TV and do anything else. But, back to Beck’s new album. I can’t say that I’m a huge Beck fan. Off the top of my head I can name three Beck songs, ‘Loser,’ ‘Where It’s At,’ and ‘Devils Haircut.’ That might also be a run down of his biggest hits. I dunno. I know that it all came from the ‘90s. I decided to listen to the Morning Phase (Capitol, 2014) basically because I didn’t know he was still making music and it just won an award over a certain other artist which seems to have lead to another artist rushing the stage in either disgust or as a joke.

So, I listened to it. I can only describe it as weird. I guess I could use folky to describe it, too. I’m not sure if I like it or not. Maybe I’ve just got Loser on the brain.
