453 Is Strictly Business

Keeping in tune with things I didn’t know, I didn’t even know EPMD ever existed. Possibly because by 1986 I was firmly planted in my MetallicA phase, which I have never grown out of. EPMD, according to wiki means Erick & Parrish Making Dollars. There is also a long paragraph about changing names and other names and names that were too similar to other artist. Google them if you want the full details. They are American, Brentwood, New York hip-hop.

Have I said before that I’m not a big hip-hop fan? It’s true. Another reason why I’ve never heard of this group. Strictly Business (Priority, 1988) is their first album, and it features the song “Strictly Business” which sampled Eric Clapton’s version of Bob Marley’s “I Shot the Sheriff.” Rolling Stones calls this album “a new style of slow-grooving hip-hop funk.” I don’t know what that means but I liked it.
