Amy Winehouse is an amazing singer and songwriter. I won’t deny that. I’m not terribly familiar with all of her work because she’s just not in my wheelhouse when it comes to music. Yeah, I heard “Rehab” a bunch on the radio, and then I got satellite radio and I rarely heard her again. Back to Black (2007, Universal) scored her five Grammy Awards and made her the first British female to win five Grammys. I’ve read that Back to Black caused record companies to seek out other female artists with a similar sound. These lead to Adele and Duffy, and more that I have never heard of. It is a decent album but I think I was more wowed by John Prine.
