388 South Africa in the House!

I don’t know how to describe this album.

The Indestructive Beat of Soweto (Shanachia, 1985) is a compilation album featuring musicians from South Africa. Wiki says that, despite what the sleeve notes say, the tracks core four different styles (mbaqanga, mqashiyo, maskanda, and isicathamiya).  I don’t know how to identify any of those styles. It was one of the first albums of contemporary South African music to be widely available outside the country.

I will say that it’s a fun album. I don’t think I’d buy it but I did enjoy listening to it.
