I feel like I should know who Tom Waits is. Wiki confirms this with by calling him a singer-songwriter, composer, and actor and his career is broken down by decades. He was in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, which I have seen many times. It seems he likes to sue companies that use his songs for commercials. His quote: “Apparently, the highest compliment our culture grants artist nowadays is to be in an ad—ideally, naked and purring on the hood of a new car…I have adamantly and repeatedly refused this dubious honor.”
I suppose I’ve heard the name but, before googling him, I couldn’t name any of his work. Mule Variations (Anti-/Epitaph, 1999) was his 12th studio album and won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Never heard of it. Won’t listen to it again. I have no words to describe it.
