Oh Van Halen. Wanna start a fight? Start talking shit about which Van Halen lead signer was best and a fight isn’t far off. Personally, I liked David Lee Roth best but I think Sammy Hagar was good for the music Van Halen created during his stint.
I think the self-titled album (Warner Bros.) from 1978 was one of their best. This was their first album and has a lot of great songs on it (Runnin’ with the Devil, You Really Got Me, Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love, Ice Cream Man). I know that 1984 was more successful (and does contain one of my favorite songs, Panama) but I hate the song Jump. I was shocked to find my personal music library was devoid of Van Halen. I don’t know how that happened. It has been corrected.
